Bird Cow Fish
Getting up on the weekend for an early breakfast is hard enough but when heading into the city to have breakfast with friends it’s even harder. Luckily there is always another option, brunch. Having a full day booked out for wine tasting, lunch and dinner starting at Bird Cow Fish for brunch made perfect sense.
It was another one of those overly warm February mornings and after a bit of a stroll up Devonshire Street I was ready to sit and cool down. Lex and I already knew we were going to order the Brunch Special and there was only a small possibility of the ‘scotch egg’ changing our decision.

The Mimosa was made for warm mornings like this, a wonderful blend of organic orange juice and sparkling wine. Such a vibrantly coloured drink, the blood orange really gave it an enticing look. Although I already had a latte it was only the Mimosa I really cared for and like all good things it disappeared way too quickly.

Three egg omelette with smoked salmon & goats cheese; sourdough toast.
Upon arrival of the omelette it was hard to know where to start; the sourdough looked so inviting and the smoked salmon spilling out of the omelette wafted its smoky aroma straight towards me. The sourdough was perfectly toasted and cutting into the omelette revealed the impeccable mix of gooey egg and smoked salmon. It was only when I was more than half way through that I remembered there was goat’s cheese hiding away inside. While there was less goat’s cheese than I would have loved it was still quite enough to really make the omelette jump with flavour.

A fantastic start to the day, we headed off satisfied and ready to tackle our next indulgence, a wine tasting session at The Tilbury.
